Microsoft is testing new desktop icons on Windows 11

Microsoft should be quietly testing the Windows 11’s desktop again, we found that a new version of the icon of the File Explorer appeared on the desktop. This icon is brought by Microsoft in the File Explorer of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25136.

The problem is that putting the home icon on the desktop is not a known new feature. As a result, after accidentally restarting the virtual machine, the icon on the desktop disappears automatically. It is estimated that Microsoft is quietly configuring this new icon on the server and may gradually push it to users.

File Explorer is also introducing a refreshed layout of the left navigation pane which makes it easy for you to navigate to folders that matter to you. The updated organization provides easy access to your pinned and frequently used folders (Quick access) and your OneDrive cloud profiles added to Windows.
