Xiaomi Relases A wireless AR glasses – Wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition
Xiaomi announced today the Xiaomi Wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition, a wireless AR glasses that employs a wireless connection scheme. Xiaomi stated that the new device has three significant innovations that will accelerate the integration of the virtual and real worlds and usher in the era of AR wireless technology.
According to Xiaomi’s introduction, the Xiaomi Wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition is made of lightweight materials, including magnesium-lithium alloy, carbon fiber components, and self-developed silicon-oxygen negative electrode batteries, weighing only 126 grams. Based on data from tens of thousands of people, Xiaomi has precisely calibrated the center of gravity, leg distance, clamping angle, nose support, and other details of the Xiaomi Wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition to provide users with a better wearing experience.
The Xiaomi Wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition uses Xiaomi’s self-developed high-speed interconnect bus, which is first applied to the connection between the phone and the AR glasses, allowing users to be free from constraints. Relying on self-developed low-latency communication links and Qualcomm Snapdragon Spaces, the communication latency between the phone and the Xiaomi Wireless AR Glass is less than 3ms, and the full-link latency is as low as 50ms.
The Xiaomi Wireless AR Glasses Explorer Edition has an ultra-clear retina-level display, similar to the concept of a retina screen, where when the PPD (pixel per degree) approaches 60, the human eye can hardly feel any granularity, and the PPD of the Xiaomi Wireless AR Glasses is 58. It adopts a free-form optical module composed of a pair of MicroOLED screens and a free-form light guide prism, with the highest brightness reaching 1200nit. In addition, it is equipped with electrochromic lenses to adapt to different lighting environments, providing a shading mode for a more immersive movie-watching experience. In contrast, the transparency mode makes the AR virtual and real experience more vivid.
Human-computer interaction is also a key concern for many users, and Xiaomi has its own direction in this regard. The Xiaomi Wireless AR Glasses Explorer Edition features an innovative self-developed micro-gesture interaction: single-handed, small-scale, pure gesture, which is more natural and comfortable to use. To achieve better functionality, the Xiaomi Wireless AR Glasses is equipped with a low-power AON camera, making long-term gesture interaction possible. At the same time, the Xiaomi Wireless AR Glasses also provides traditional interaction methods, allowing users to use their phones as touchpads or remote controls.
In terms of software ecology, the Xiaomi Wireless AR Glasses supports Qualcomm Snapdragon Spaces, OpenXR, and Microsoft MRTK development frameworks. The Xiaomi Wireless AR already supports the Xiaomi 13 series, but Xiaomi has not yet announced the product’s release date.
