Windows 10 v2004 Mainstream Support will end on December 14, 2021

Today, Microsoft is starting to push Windows 10 Version 2004 version. Microsoft says that the mainstream support for Windows 10 version 2004 will end on December 14, 2021.

The so-called mainstream support mainly refers to the support cycle including function updates and security updates. Generally, after the mainstream support ends, Microsoft will not provide any function updates.

Extended support mainly refers to the additional security support cycle provided by Microsoft, that is, after the mainstream support is over, Microsoft will continue to provide security updates to specific versions.

The mainstream support time for the upcoming new version of Windows 10 v2004 is December 14, 2021, and Microsoft will stop updating when this date is reached.

These Windows 10 version 2004 include Home Edition, Home China Edition, Professional Edition, Retail Education Edition, Professional Workstation Edition, Enterprise Edition, and Enterprise Channel Education Edition.

By convention, Microsoft will only provide 18 months of mainstream support for each new version, of course, during 18 months, Microsoft will also release at least two more updates.

After the end of mainstream support, Microsoft will also provide one-year extended support for the Enterprise version, that is, mainstream support for 18 months and an additional 12 months of extended support. The main support for extended support is the Enterprise Edition and Education Edition.

The educational version used by educational institutions in the educational environment can also receive extended support. During the extended support period, Microsoft will continue to provide security updates to ensure security.

The extended support cycle of the new version ends on December 14, 2022, so companies and educational institutions that are still using the old version may also consider upgrading and deploying the new version.
