Western Digital Launches WD_BLACK C50 Expansion Card

Western Digital has announced the formal launch of the WD_BLACK C50 Expansion Card, a high-performance member of their Black Disk product line. This storage expansion card, designed exclusively for the Xbox Series X/S, is available in 500GB and 1TB variants. Their respective price points are $79.99 and $149.99. Given that the 1TB product has already been available for sale on some e-commerce platforms, this release does not come as a surprise.

In contrast to Sony’s PlayStation 5, which achieves storage expansion through a dedicated M.2 SSD expansion slot with strict SSD specifications, Microsoft’s Xbox Series X/S uses dedicated storage expansion cards inserted into the corresponding external port. However, the biggest issue lies in the limited variety of products available. Previously, these specialized storage expansion cards were exclusively supplied by Seagate, offering 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB options.

The Western Digital WD_BLACK C50 Expansion Card features an impressively cool aesthetic design that harmonizes perfectly with the design style of the Xbox Series X/S. With official authorization, players need not fret over compatibility issues. Additionally, this expansion card supports the Xbox Velocity Architecture technology, delivering performance comparable to internal storage, and allowing players to enjoy their favorite games seamlessly.

The company asserts that the WD_BLACK C50 Expansion Card amplifies the storage capacity of the Xbox Series X/S in a quick and straightforward manner. Moreover, the purchase of this product includes a one-month membership to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, providing access to over a hundred games on both the console and PC.
