Vivaldi 2.0 releases: New UI, Vivaldi Sync, Smarter browsing

Founded by Opera co-founder Jon von Tetzchner, the Vivaldi browser has been popular with users since its launch in 2016. With its rich customization options, it has ushered in its first significant upgrade today. The company claims that the latest release of Vivaldi 2.0 brings more than 1,500 changes to the first version, including encrypted data synchronization, excellent tab management, custom user interfaces and more.

  • New interface: The company redesigned the browser’s interface. Allow users to use the vertical tab bar and allow the address bar to be moved to the bottom according to their preferences. Also, users can use adaptive themes to adjust based on the primary color of the visited website, and users can change the theme on a daily basis.
  • Privacy-focused data synchronization: In Vivaldi 2.0, users can seamlessly synchronize all browsing data (including access history, bookmarks, and notes) across devices. Von Tetzchner revealed to TNW that these synchronization data requires a second password for end-to-end encryption after the user logs in.
  • Tag Management: First-generation browsers allow users to stack, pin, and mute tabs. In this update, the user can enable split screen mode while browsing two tabs, and the user can view all the tabs in the list view and switch more conveniently.
  • Optimized navigation: Vivaldi 2.0 allows for custom mouse gestures and keyboard shortcuts to enable users to make various preferences in the browser. Also, the browser history option also enables a new look with a calendar view and a chart view for in-depth analysis of your surfing information.
