Google will push major updates for Android Auto in the next few weeks
Prior to this year’s I/O Developers Conference, Google revealed an update to Android Auto that made significant improvements to the user interface. Today the search giant announced that the update will be released for cars that support Android Auto in the coming weeks. The new Android Auto will bring a faster, better experience. Music starts automatically when the car starts up; the designated navigation app also gives you the option to go to your destination.
When the car is turned on, the music will automatically start playing and the navigation app of your choice will show you the option to choose your driving destination. In addition, Google has redesigned the Android Auto user interface to better integrate into the car’s atmosphere. To match the dark theme, the UI is decorated with colored embellishments and the overall legibility is higher.
A new navigation bar makes it easy to access more features on the same screen. This area gives you access to your current navigation directions, music playback controls, and new notification centers and launchers. The new app launcher makes it easier to find and access apps and the notification center provides call and message notifications so that users can quickly perform actions or interactions such as newly introduced call pop-ups.
Finally, Android Auto can make better use of the space on the car’s screen to display elements such as the direction of the turn and the playback controls.
