Update new Android version speed is faster

Although the fragmentation of the Android system has been significantly improved, the manufacturers are still not particularly concerned about following up on the new version. To this end, Google hopes to help mobile phone manufacturers update devices to new versions of Android as soon as possible through Project Treble.

Although Apple and Google have huge differences in hardware sales and software development, there has been such a controversial topic in the past decade: whether Google should follow Apple’s iOS update to promote the rapid change of the Android system. From the latest Android version statistics, Google has a very strong vision in coordinating various vendors and steadily pushing the Android version update. However, considering the current market size of Android phones and the number of mobile phone manufacturers, this is obviously a very difficult task for Google, especially to see the number of devices that are upgraded to the latest Android version.

Today, Google shared some details about the operation of Project Treble. Using the chart below, you can see the increase in the number of active users of Android Oreo, Oreo MR1, and Android Pie over a limited timeframe. In the chart, based on the 400-day time after the release date, you can see that the number of active users upgrading to the new version of Android has increased year by year.

Another sign is that the pace of mobile phone manufacturers releasing Android 10 has improved. Samsung launched Android 10 Beta for Galaxy phones a week ago, about a month earlier than the same period last year. The beta version is not factory software but shows that Android phone manufacturers are moving in the right direction.
