TSMC confirms that it will no longer produce Kirin 9000 chips

The US Department of Commerce’s buffer period for Huawei’s ban expires on September 15. After the expiration, relevant supply chain companies have temporarily suspended their continued cooperation with Huawei.

Chipmakers such as TSMC can no longer produce chips for Huawei, and Huawei has placed a large number of chip products with TSMC before the end of the buffer period.

There is also news that TSMC has obtained a license to provide Huawei with some mature technology products, but TSMC officials did not respond to the rumors.

At the TSMC meeting a few days ago, Dr. C.C. Wei, the company’s co-CEO, has confirmed that after the validation of the ban, it will no longer provide any chip products to Huawei.

At the same time, Wei also stated that there was no share of Huawei in the order in the fourth quarter, which means that TSMC has been unable to produce any chip products for Huawei.

Before the expiration of the buffer period, Huawei placed an order of up to 15 million HiSilicon Kirin 9000 chips to TSMC, and about 8.8 million were completed before the final shipment date.

Earlier, there was news that Huawei placed an order with TSMC for Kirin 9000 and other chips worth $300 million before the buffer period expires, but TSMC has not confirmed the news.

It is also true that the limited chip inventory will definitely affect the development of Huawei’s mobile phone business, especially the supply of high-end Huawei mobile phones will be limited.
