The fifth developer beta for macOS 10.15 Catalina releases
Apple today introduced the fifth developer-tested version of macOS Catalina 10.15, two weeks away from the previous beta. Users can download the new macOS Catalina beta via the “Software Update” method in System Preferences. Like all Beta versions, macOS Catalina is currently not recommended for installation on the main device, because it is still in development and contains bugs.
macOS Catalina removed the iTunes app and split it into music, podcasts and TV apps. The music and podcast app is already enabled, and the TV app will be available later this year when the Apple TV+ service is launched.
Through the new “Catalyst” project, Apple helps and encourages developers to port their great iPad apps to the Mac platform. So with macOS Catalina, users will be able to enjoy more beloved iPad apps on their Mac. With the Sidecar feature, users can also extend Mac’s workspace by using the iPad as the second display on the Mac. The Sidecar feature also supports Apple Pencil, for example, you can use the Apple Pencil to manipulate the illustrator app on your Mac on the iPad.
macOS Catalina will also bring a host of new features, such as a newly designed photo app, reminder app and memo app, and a faster Safari browser. macOS Catalina will be officially released this fall, and there should be 2 to 3 beta updates before the release.
