The default app is reset after updating from App Store in iOS 14

Apple has opened the default applications of some services in the iOS 14 version. For example, now both email and browser can set other apps as system default applications.

However, when the iOS 14 version was first released, users found that after each restart, the default application that the user actively set was reset and then replaced with Apple’s own.

After getting feedback, Apple will fix this problem in subsequent updates, but now some users have found that the default application settings still have the problem of automatic reset.

According to feedback from Twitter users, the default apps set in iOS 14 and iOS 14.1 will still be reset after App Store updates.

For example, after setting Google Chrome as the default browser, if Google Chrome is updated through the App Store, the default browser will be reset to the Safari browser.

The default mail application also has a similar problem. When the user sets Outlook and other applications as the default mail, the update will also be reset to the system mail.

It is not clear whether Apple is aware of this issue, but some users have reported to Apple. So Apple may fix this issue in iOS 14.2.
