Survey shows that Nvidia GPU share continues to increase
A month ago, a Steam hardware survey revealed that only Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card has surpassed the sum of all AMD Radeon RX 6000 series models. Moreover, the GeForce RTX 3090 is the smallest product in the entire GeForce RTX 30 series of NVIDIA. The Steam hardware survey in August showed that Nvidia benefited from the relatively stable and continuous supply of laptops and desktops in the near future, its GPU share continues to increase.Obviously, the data of the Steam hardware survey is also in line with the recent market research agency Jon Peddie Research report. Data shows that Nvidia has occupied 83% of the discrete graphics market share in 2021Q2, while AMD has dropped to 17%, a record low in recent years. According to Steam’s data, the ratio between the sales of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series and AMD Radeon RX 6000 series is 18:1.
In the Steam hardware survey in August, a number of new NVIDIA GPUs have begun to appear, including GeForce RTX 3070 Ti/RTX 3080 Ti for desktop platforms and GeForce RTX 3050/3050 Ti for mobile platforms. Among the latest generation of Nvidia GPUs, the most popular is the GeForce RTX 3070, but the GeForce RTX 3060 is growing very fast. According to the current speed, it may surpass GeForce RTX 3070 in two months.
Among AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture graphics cards, the best-selling one is the Radeon RX 6700 XT. The recently launched Radeon RX 6600 XT has not yet appeared on it, but the earlier Radeon RX 6800M has already appeared.
Compared to July, the share of Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series increased from 5.68% to 7.75%, while the share of AMD Radeon RX 6000 series increased from 0.40% to 0.43%. The share of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series exceeds that of AMD Radeon RX 500/Vega/5000/6000 series combined.
