SK hynix launched the world’s first LPDDR5X with integrated HKMG process

SK hynix announced that it has successfully developed the world’s first LPDDR5X memory integrated with the HKMG process, manufactured using the 1αnm process, and has just been launched to the market recently. SK hynix said that compared to the previous generation, the LPDDR5X reduces power consumption by 25% and operates within the ultra-low voltage range of 1.01V to 1.12V set by JEDEC.

Compared with conventional DRAM, low power consumption is one of the most competitive features of LPDDR5X. This is due to the limited power of mobile devices, so it is necessary to prolong the use time as much as possible. This is why reducing power consumption is just as important as increasing operating speed. SK hynix uses the HKMG process to improve performance and reduce power consumption. It can be described as killing two birds with one stone, achieving positive expansion and high efficiency.

With the introduction of low-power LPDDR5X, mobile devices can last longer on a single charge. At the same time, the data transfer rate of SK hynix’s LPDDR5X has been increased to 8533 MT/s, which is 33% faster than the previous generation to improve memory performance in application scenarios including 5G communication performance, automotive high-resolution augmented reality/virtual reality, and edge computing using AI.
In recent years, SK hynix has closely followed the market trend in mobile DRAM and has invested a lot in research and development. Last year, SK hynix mass-produced 18GB of LPDDR5, which is currently the largest capacity among similar products in the industry. With the launch of LPDDR5X integrated with the HKMG process this time, providing faster speed with less power consumption, SK hynix has further consolidated its leadership in the field of memory semiconductors.
