SilverStone Launches SST-ECM28 Expansion Card
For many users who are still using old systems, if they want to use M.2 SSDs, they need to add M.2 slots. Recently, SilverStone has launched an M.2 expansion card called SST-ECM28 to meet the storage expansion needs of this group of people. There is no shortage of similar products on the market, but few have such a compact design as the SST-ECM28.
The SST-ECM28 provides two M.2 slots on both sides of the expansion card, one for M-key NVMe SSD, and the other for B-key SATA SSD. The SATA SSD requires a cable to operate normally. Both NVMe SSDs and SATA SSDs support products with specifications ranging from 2230 to 2280. In addition, SST-ECM28 has a built-in LED status indicator and supports the PCIe CLKREQ# function.
Because the SST-ECM28 is too small, it doesn’t even have a fixed bracket. Although the SST-ECM28 is a PCIe x4 interface, it is best to insert it into the PCIe x16 slot and fix it through the slot device, otherwise, the expansion card may become loose when the host is moved. According to SilverStone’s introduction, the total height of SST-ECM28 is 32mm, which is specially designed to meet the installation requirements of 1U chassis.
SilverStone also provides a list of SSDs that have been tested and verified to work perfectly with the SST-ECM28, including:
