Seagate launches new Xbox Series X/S dedicated storage expansion card

On next-generation game consoles, Sony PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Xbox Series X/S both provide storage expansion options. The difference is that PlayStation 5 is implemented through a dedicated M.2 SSD expansion slot, and there are strict regulations on the matching SSD, which must support PCI-E 4.0 x4, and the capacity is between 250GB and 4TB, the reading speed is at least 5500 MB/s, and a heat sink must be installed, the length is up to 110mm, the width does not exceed 25mm, and the thickness is up to 11.25mm. Microsoft Xbox Series X/S is much more friendly. You can insert the corresponding external interface through a dedicated storage expansion card. The problem is that there are not many choices. Previously, there was only one Seagate product with a capacity of 1TB and a price of $219.99.

Recently, Seagate’s Xbox Series X/S dedicated storage expansion card has launched 512GB and 2TB capacity products, giving players more choices. This series of products can directly store games, optimized for Xbox Velocity Architecture. It can be guaranteed to provide the same experience as the Xbox Series X/S built-in SSD. There will be no difference in transmission speed, loading time, or a number of frames, and the shape can fit the host better. It is not only suitable for Xbox Series X/S games, but also forward compatible with Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One games.

Nowadays, a game file can easily be hundreds of GB, and Microsoft is actively promoting the Xbox Game Pass subscription service, the built-in storage space of Xbox Series X/S may not be able to meet the storage needs of players. As the game becomes larger and larger, Seagate’s Xbox Series X/S dedicated storage expansion cards are limited in choice, and the price is relatively expensive. Through the M.2 SSD to CFexpress adapter card, the PCI-E 4.0 standard SSD is changed to a cheap external storage solution used by Xbox Series X/S.

Xbox Series X/S dedicated storage expansion cards are priced at $139.99 and $399.99 for 512GB and 2TB capacity respectively and come with a three-year limited warranty.
