Rumors: AMD RDNA 3 architecture performance has been improved by more than 50%

According to previous news, AMD Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards are divided into RDNA 3 architecture and RDNA 2 architecture products. RDNA 3 architecture has only three GPUs, Navi 31/Navi 32/Navi 33. Among them, Navi 31 and Navi 32 will adopt MCM multi-chip packaging, using a 5nm process to manufacture GCD (graphics computing chip) and a 6nm process to manufacture MCD (multi-buffer/IO chip). AMD will change the structure instead of the original CU computing unit and will use WGP as the main computing module. The remaining products of the Radeon RX 7000 series still use RDNA 2 architecture GPUs, but they will be manufactured on a 6nm process.

According to Wccftech reports, AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT will increase by more than 50% compared to Radeon RX 6900 XT, and there will even be a performance increase of more than 60%. There have been rumors that the performance of the RDNA 3 architecture is 2 to 2.5 times that of the RDNA 2 architecture, but it may refer to certain specific workloads. Of course, the theory is that actual performance may be two different things.

It is said that the pricing of AMD Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards will be fully adjusted, which is somewhat similar to previous rumors about the Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 series. For example, the official suggested retail price of Radeon RX 7700 XT is $599, and its performance will reach the level of Radeon RX 6900 XT or GeForce RTX 3090. You know that the price of Radeon RX 6700 XT is $479, which is $80 higher than Radeon RX 5700 XT.

In addition, with AMD Radeon RX 8000 series graphics cards based on the RDNA 4 architecture, AMD may continue to increase pricing. It is understood that Radeon RX 8000 series graphics cards will all be based on the Navi 4x core of the RDNA 4 architecture. Discrete graphics cards priced below $300 will be completely replaced by APUs. This is a bit different from Intel. According to the previously leaked plan, Intel will launch products based on the new architecture for the market under $300.

It is expected that AMD Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards based on the RDNA 3 architecture will be released in the second half of 2022, while the Radeon RX 8000 series graphics cards based on the RDNA 4 architecture will be released in late 2023 or early 2024.
