Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.4 official supports ARM servers


Red Hat Announces Launch of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.4 Business Operating System for ARM Architecture Hardware. Wrote in a press release: “Our goal is to develop a unified operating system capable of supporting 64-bit ARMv8-A server-class processors from various vendors, using the same resources to create user features and related feature sets for customer convenience Extensive server deployment and application compatibility maintenance.”


Red Hat worked very closely with the ARM to get RHEL systems running on server- class processor systems commonly found in cloud and hyperscale. Red Hat has been in close contact with ARM technology giants such as Qualcomm and Cavium and has designed and developed systems based on the 64-bit ARM architecture with OEM partners such as HPE.
