Opera 63 releases: Improved private mode

For the three major platforms of GNU/Linux, macOS, and Windows, Opera Software officially released the cross-platform browser Opera 63. The new version is based on Chromium 76.0.3809.100, which is a major improvement to the private browsing mode. It not only has a more user-friendly interface but also has a privacy-aware feature that notifies users of the data is deleted or retained after exiting the private browsing mode.

Directly after you close a private window, Opera will remove:

  • Browsing history
  • Cookies and site data
  • Information entered in forms

In case you’d like to save some data while browsing, Opera will keep:

  • Speed dials
  • Downloaded files
  • Bookmarks

One of the most anticipated features in the Opera 63 update is the default path when saving bookmarks. When the user chooses to save a new bookmark but does not select a saved folder path, the system will automatically save to the bookmarks bar for quick access instead of creating another bookmark folder.
