Nvidia GeForce MX550 appeared

Normally, you will see Nvidia GeForce MX450 on many laptops with relatively cheap positioning and price. As an entry-level graphics card for mobile platforms, its GPU based on Turing architecture has 896 CUDA cores. The base frequency is 1395 MHz, the acceleration frequency is 1575 MHz, it supports GDDR5/GDDR6 memory and PCIe 4.0 x16 interface, the memory capacity is 2GB, and the memory width is 64 bits. GeForce MX450 has a deep relationship with the new version of GeForce GTX 1650 for mobile platforms.

Recently, a Lenovo laptop appeared in the Geekbench database, equipped with an Intel Core i7-1260P processor, and a new graphics card from Nvidia, which seems to be the GeForce MX550. Intel Core i7-1260P processor is equipped with 4 Golden Cove architecture performance cores (Performance Core) and 8 Gracemont architecture-based energy efficiency cores (Efficient Core), base frequency 2.5 GHz, turbo frequency 4.6 GHz, equipped with 18MB L3 cache. GeForce MX550 is the successor of the GeForce MX450, based on the Ampere architecture GPU, with 2048 CUDA cores, same as the GeForce RTX 3050 on the mobile platform, it is also equipped with 2GB of GDDR6 video memory. The video memory bit width has not been confirmed. This chip should be a reduction on the basis of GA107.

Geekbench shows that the OpenCL score of Nvidia GeForce MX550 is 39124, which is about 15% to 18% improvement compared to the previous generation GeForce MX450. Nvidia is expected to release GeForce MX550 at CES 2022, which will be used in conjunction with Intel’s upcoming 12th-generation Core series mobile processors. In terms of mobile platforms, Intel will soon launch entry-level Alchemist graphics cards, such as Xe-HPG 128EU. I believe there will be a battle between the two sides.
