MSI Z690 motherboard with 12900KS processor overclocked to 7.45GHz

The 12th generation Core i9-12900KS was launched by Intel on April 5th. This processor can provide up to a 5.5 GHz boost clock, supports Intel Thermal Velocity Boost, and uses Intel Adaptive Boost Technology (Intel ABT) to bring players the ultimate gaming experience.

Just then, MSI announced that their overclocking team successfully overclocked this Core i9-12900KS to 7.45GHz! A new historical record was refreshed. It is understood that the motherboard participating in MSI’s test is the MSI MEG Z690 UNIFY-X, which ranks in the MSI MEG family. It uses a 19-phase direct-connected power supply with a DRMOS design. Each channel can provide up to 105A output capacity, which can suppress the performance of the Core i9 12900KS level.

In addition, the MSI MEG Z690 UNIFY-X motherboard supports the latest DDR5 memory standard and can be overclocked to 6800MHz.
As for the beast-level CPU of the Core i9-12900KS, it is regarded as an enhanced version of the i9-12900K. It uses 8 performance cores based on the Golden Cove architecture and 8 energy efficiency cores based on the Gracemont architecture. It has specifications of 16 cores and 24 threads, as well as 14MB L2 cache and 30MB L3 cache. PL1/PL2 are 150W and 241W respectively, support DDR4-3200 and DDR5-4800, and are compatible with Z690 motherboards.
