Ming-Chi Kuo: AirPods 3 will be mass-produced in the third quarter

Apple, which has promoted the popularity of true wireless Bluetooth headsets, seems to have encountered some problems. The sales of the first high-end wireless headset AirPods Max were unexpectedly poor.

Well-known Apple product analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently stated in a report that Apple’s AirPods Max sales are not good, and it is expected that it will account for at most 1% of all AirPods headset sales in 2021, which is about 1 million units.

Although being able to sell more than 1 million AirPods Max units is a very successful thing, it is not a success for the giant Apple. Because the products it sells are basically in units of tens of millions.

Kuo also revealed the concerned AirPods 3. He said that Apple will probably start mass production in the third quarter of this year, but this does not mean that Apple will discontinue AirPods 2 after the release of AirPods 3.

Due to the release of AirPods 3, he predicts that AirPods 2’s sales in the third quarter of this year will drop by 9 million units, or 3 million units, from the third quarter of 2020.

Since various mobile phone manufacturers have launched low-priced TWS headsets that work better with their own mobile phones, Kuo believes that the overall market for Apple’s AirPods series headsets is gradually shrinking.

He said that the key to the initial success of AirPods is the convenience of Bluetooth connection and the high sound quality provided by TWS. Although Apple is still leading the competition in these two areas, competitors are gradually offsetting this with better user experience and lower prices.
