Millions of text messages leaked by SMS service provider TrueDialog

A database of tens of millions of businesses sending text messages to potential customers, managed by American corporate SMS service provider TrueDialog, was leaked online. The database stores text messages sent and received by TrueDialog customers over the years. Since there is no password and the data is not encrypted, anyone can access the database content.

TechCrunch looked at some of the contents of the database and found that the database contains not only text messages but also phone numbers. Some text messages even contain university financial information, corporate promotional information with discount codes, and two-factor authentication codes and other security information. Users’ online accounts may be accessed by hackers. In addition, the database contains the username and password of the TrueDialog customer.
