Microsoft To Do personal accounts and work accounts can now share lists

Microsoft To Do is a to-do application developed by Microsoft, which belongs to the Microsoft 365 series of productivity tools but is mainly provided for free.

The application supports both individual users for free use and enterprise-level users to use within the team, but complete isolation between personal and work accounts.

For example, users could not share work items to their personal accounts before. Based on user feedback, Microsoft had already opened some restrictions last fall.

But this seems not enough. There are still users who continue to ask users to open more permissions, so Microsoft has opened most permissions to administrators in this update.

Microsoft To Do supports list sharing for the following scenarios:

  • Sharing between personal Microsoft accounts.
  • Sharing between accounts within the same place of work or education.
  • Sharing from personal Microsoft accounts to work accounts, as long as an organization’s admin has turned this feature on. (Note: it’s currently not possible to share from work accounts to personal Microsoft accounts.)
