Microsoft introduced high contrast mode to Chromium Edge browser

Microsoft is adding more new features to the Chromium Edge browser. Of course, thanks to Microsoft’s participation, the entire Chromium open source project is now tightly integrated with Windows 10 to invoke more system setup options. For example, the newly added high-contrast mode is Microsoft’s exploration from Windows 10, allowing the browser to automatically switch between high-contrast mode.

If you are using Chromium Edge Canary V79.0.305.0 and higher, you can open the Forced Colors flag (edge://flags/#forced-colors) in the experimental feature. After turning it on, you need to go to the Windows 10 Settings app, then turn on the high contrast mode that is turned off by default to see the display. When turned on, Chromium Edge will enable high-contrast mode even on web pages, which instantly turns the site without dark mode into a dark mode.

Unfortunately, this feature has no options for the user to manually turn on, which means that only the system can set the high contrast mode and then the Microsoft browser follows the system settings. If the system’s high contrast option is turned off, the browser’s high contrast mode will not be turned on.
