The Linux Mint team today released a beta release of Linux Mint 18.3 “Sylvia” KDE and Xfce, both based on the Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS (Xenial Xerus) system and the Linux 4.10 kernel branch.
Main update for Linux Mint 18.3 “Sylvia”:
The user interface is more modern, its layout is inspired by GNOME software, simpler and more consistent than before, and the application looks cleaner. Software Manager is lighter and faster than before. 18.3 version no longer use Webkit, also reduced browsing categories and applications, therefore, it launched three times faster than before.
The backend is ported to AptDaemon and the software manager is now running in user mode. Therefore, you do not need to enter any password to browse the application and enter the password to install or remove the application.
