LibreOffice 5.4.5 & 6.0.1 release, open source office software suite


LibreOffice 6.0 officially released.

Released two and a half years after the release of the LibreOffice 5.x series, LibreOffice 6.0 is by far the largest open source and cross-platform office suite. It introduces an improved design of new form styles, improved Notebook bags, new gradients, new basic icons, menu and toolbar improvements, updated themes/splash screens.

LibreOffice 6.0 provides good interoperability with Microsoft Office documents and compatibility with the EPUB3 format by allowing users to export ODT files to EPUB3. It also allows you to import AbiWord, Microsoft Publisher, PageMaker, and QuarkXPress documents and templates, thanks to a new set of open source libraries provided by the Document Liberation project.

OOXML and ODF filters as well as EMF +, Adobe Freehand, Microsoft Visio, Adobe Pagemaker, FictionBook, Apple Keynote, Pages and Numbers, and Quattro Pro import and XHTML export. LibreOffice Online has also made many improvements in this major release of LibreOffice.

Writer, Calc, Impress & Draw new features and functions
