KIOXIA KumoScale Software v3.20 releases: Added support for NVIDIA Magnum IO GDS

Recently, Kioxia announced the release of KumoScale software version 3.20 based on the NVM Express over Fabrics (NVMe-oF) protocol.
The KumoScale Storage Software System is a high-performance block storage software suite for on-premises cloud designed for data center-scale, cloud-centric deployments, delivering high-performance NVM Express flash storage as a distributed network service. Key features of KumoScale Storage Software version 3.20 include additional bare metal deployment options and seamless support for OpenID Connect 1.0 and support for NVIDIA Magnum IO GPUDirect Storage (GDS).

For large data centers, the storage infrastructure is tightly integrated with various subsystems, including those for provisioning, monitoring, telemetry, and networking. The KumoScale storage software’s “managed mode” provides engineering and security administrators with complete flexibility to configure, integrate, and control the KumoScale software storage layer operating system environment, the appliance mode, on the other hand, provides simplified installation and automated deployment to reduce the complexity of deployments for small and midsize businesses.

This time, KumoScale storage software version 3.20 adds support for NVIDIA Magnum IO GPUDirect Storage, which acts as a storage adapter to enable a direct data path for DMA transfers between GPU memory and storage, avoiding buffers through the CPU, thereby increasing system bandwidth and reduce CPU latency and workload.
In addition, KumoScale storage software version 3.20 adds support for third-party OpenID Connect 1.0. This is an identity layer built on top of the OAuth 2.0 protocol that allows clients to authenticate users and sessions based on the authentication performed by an authorization server for service account permissions, simplifying secure integration with cloud service provider data center environments.
