iOS 14 no longer limits Safari as a default browser

Apple’s iOS system is well known as a closed OS. Although the closure does improve ecological security in some respects, the restrictions in some places are indeed very unreasonable.

For example, in terms of browsers, the previous iOS system default browser is Safari, which does not allow modification, but which browser the user uses or calls seems to have nothing to do with security.

This is also true. Currently, in the iOS14 version, Apple has opened some default applications, such as the default browser and default mail applications, which are no longer restricted.

Starting from iOS 14 Developer Beta 8, third-party browsers can become the default browser after calling the latest API interface.

For example, Google Chrome has released the latest version of the iOS version. After the update is complete, you can see the configuration options of the default browser in the Google Chrome settings.

Apple does not regard the default browser configuration options as independent options, but after installing the corresponding category of applications, you can see the corresponding options in the application settings.

Of course, Apple’s own Safari browser experience is better on iOS devices, but it’s easier to synchronize bookmarks and other content if the user uses Google Chrome.
