Intel Z690 motherboard specifications exposed

At the previous Intel Architecture Day event, although Intel introduced in detail the architecture and scalability of Alder Lake. However, it did not clearly disclose the specific product, and the supporting 600 series motherboard chipset did not have much information. It just mentioned the number of PCI-E channels. Now someone finally released the expanded diagram of the Intel Z690 platform.

Intel Alder Lake Windows 11

The following Intel Z690 specifications are released by PC Inquisitor. Let’s take a look at the 12th-generation Core processor above. It supports both DDR5 and DDR4 memory, the frequency of DDR5 is 4800MHz, and the frequency of DDR4 is 3200MHz. It provides 16 PCI-E 5.0 channels and 4 PCI-E 4.0 channels. These 16 PCI-E 5.0 can be made into one PCI-E 5.0 x16 or two PCI-E 5.0 x8, and the core display can support up to 3 video outputs.

The CPU and the Z690 chip are connected by DMI 4.0 x8, the bandwidth is directly doubled than the current DMI 3.0 x8 of the 11th generation platform, which can be regarded as a speed similar to PCI-E 4.0 x8. The Z690 chip itself can provide 12 PCI-E 4.0 and 16 PCI-E 3.0, which is higher than the current Z590’s 24 PCI-E 3.0 regardless of the number or rate. The SATA port is still 6 SATA 6Gbps, still integrates Intel Gigabit Ethernet MAC, but the optional upgrade from 2.5GbE network card to 5GbE, the wireless network card is also upgraded from AX210 to WiFi 6E AX211.

In terms of USB interface, Z690 provides up to 16 USB ports, of which up to 10 USB 3.2 Gen 1 or Gen 2 ports, and up to 4 USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 ports. Compared with Z590, the total number of USB ports is two more, and the number of USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 ports is one more.

Not surprisingly, Intel will release the Alder Lake processor and the Z690 motherboard at the end of the October event. Of course, the release date should be mid-November.
