Intel releases the first Universal Windows Drivers (UWD) compliant software
Intel has now released the first cross-platform UWD universal driver for Windows 10 Fall creator updates and above. The new driver will remove the legacy drivers that exist in the system by default to ensure compatibility, and the new driver performance is almost the same as the traditional version. This driver only supports Windows 10 Version 1709 and above. It only provides a 64-bit version and does not support Windows 7.
For the new driver type Microsoft released a special blog to explain, the so-called universal driver can complete cross-platform driver development. This driver not only supports Windows 10 computers but also runs directly on a variety of devices, such as embedded systems or tablets. For developers, only one development is required to cover all Windows 10 platforms, but this driver only supports 64-bit systems.
The new drivers released by Intel this time also bring performance improvements to some games. This driver is not fundamentally different from the traditional drivers. So various problems such as the traditional version of the driver still exist in this category, such as the advanced settings of the display can not correctly display the graphics bit depth. Some custom resolutions may not work properly at certain refresh rates, and of course, these are known issues that Intel needs to fix later.
