Intel Meteor Lake is planned to be launched on the market in the second half of 2023

Intel announced its first-quarter 2023 earnings report, with quarterly revenue falling to its lowest level since 2010, the fifth consecutive quarter of declining sales, and the largest quarterly loss in its history. It also expects to continue to lose money in the second quarter of 2023. Although Intel launched a cost-cutting and efficiency improvement plan as early as last year, which could reduce costs by up to $10 billion from now until 2025, Intel still needs to increase revenue in addition to saving money.

In the first-quarter 2023 earnings report, Intel talked about the next-generation Core, which is the Meteor Lake project. Intel said that it is accelerating the mass production of Meteor Lake and plans to launch related products in the second half of 2023.

Meteor Lake is a very important chip for Intel, involving several key points: First, this is the first processor to use the new Intel 4 process; second, this is the first processor to use a modular design, which can be stacked with modules of different process nodes, and then use EMIB technology for interconnection and Foveros packaging technology; finally, P-Core will use Redwood Cove architecture instead of Golden Cove architecture, E-Core will use Crestmont architecture instead of Gracemont architecture, and it is rumored that it will be equipped with L4 cache again.

Meteor Lake will span the 7W ultra-portable to 45W mainstream laptop market on the mobile platform, and may even have products for 55W gaming laptops. Although there have been rumors in the past that Intel has abandoned the use of Meteor Lake chips on the desktop platform, recent signs indicate that Meteor Lake will debut with the new LGA 1851 socket, but only up to 6P+16E configuration, and only provide Core i5 models, corresponding to TDP of only 35W and 65W.
