Apple released the new MacBook Air at the WWDC 2022 developer conference, which adopts a new design and is equipped with a new generation of M2 chips, opening the prelude to the M2 series of chips. Due to supply chain factors, Apple did not start selling new devices until July 8 and began shipping on July 15.
According to
9to5Mac, the new MacBook Air has now been obtained. After disassembling it, you can see that it adopts the same fanless design as the previous generation. Covering the SoC and other components with a large-area heat dissipation system, Apple also uses graphite tape for better heat dissipation.

From the photos, you can also see the design of the hinges, speakers, and USB-C interfaces inside the new MacBook Air. The speakers are not placed near the keyboard like the higher-positioned MacBook Pro, but on the hinge, a change that could affect the sound of the MacBook Air’s speakers. The battery on the new MacBook Air is a three-part design, and the trackpad is the same as on other MacBook models.
The MacBook Air uses a new midnight color that looks a bit bluer compared to the renderings and photos Apple showed at the WWDC 2022 developer conference, and it’s uncertain whether the difference is caused by lighting. Soon consumers will be able to get their hands on the first batch of the new MacBook Air, and they will be able to know the specific situation.
