Google Play and security from Google Play Protect running on existing Huawei devices are not affected
Due to the need to comply with the US government’s ban on their business with Huawei, Google recently announced the abolition of Huawei’s Android license, which suspended access to Google Play services and Play Store, which will actually serve services such as Gmail, Youtube. The removal of Huawei’s future production of Android smartphones in the overseas market forced Huawei to develop its own version of the Android operating system on the open source code.
Obviously, this application of Huawei’s Android-based mobile devices will cause considerable problems overseas. The problem will be reflected in the application must be updated through a third-party service or directly download apk installation, cannot run Google series services including Gmail, YouTube and other applications, unable to make Google Pay payments, etc.
Then many overseas users of Huawei mobile phones sent inquiries to Google, and then Google’s Android development team explained the matter on its official Twitter:
For Huawei users' questions regarding our steps to comply w/ the recent US government actions: We assure you while we are complying with all US gov't requirements, services like Google Play & security from Google Play Protect will keep functioning on your existing Huawei device.
