GeForce RTX 4070 specifications lower than RTX 4080 12GB

Nvidia dropped a blockbuster among the industry and gamers a few days ago by abruptly announcing the cancellation of the GeForce RTX 4080 12GB that was released but not yet on sale. Nvidia says the GeForce RTX 4080 12GB is a great card, but the name is wrong, and it’s confusing to have two RTX 4080 names at the same time. Since its partners have also made relevant preparations before the sale of new products, Nvidia also bears part of the marketing expenses of some brands.

Moore’s Law is Dead recently stated that when the GeForce RTX 4080 12GB was canceled, because it had just started production, the impact on partners was not so great. What is more troublesome is that the planning of the entire product line is disrupted, and it takes a period of time to adjust. After Nvidia cancels the GeForce RTX 4080 12GB, the corresponding specs are likely not to appear again.

Both GeForce RTX 4070 and GeForce RTX 4080 12GB will be based on AD104, however, Nvidia will not use the same specifications, and will reduce the number of CUDA cores (meaning less than 7680), and the memory configuration may retain the 192-bit width and 12GB capacity, but the speed will be reduced. The GeForce RTX 4080 12GB is essentially a replacement for the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, and an upgrade to the 80-series can boost pricing.

Moore’s Law is Dead has previously talked about some of the designs of the GeForce RTX 4070 Founders Edition, and this time it also revealed more. The graphics card will be a standard dual-slot design, and the cooling module will be modified on the basis of the GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition. The overall structure is very compact, and it will have better installation compatibility for players.
