NVIDIA officially released the long-delayed GeForce RTX 3050 desktop GPU at the CES 2022 exhibition. The official suggested retail price is $249. It will be available on January 27th. In fact, since the news of the GeForce RTX 3050 desktop version came out at the end of 2020, Nvidia has not only changed the release time many times but also made several changes to the specifications. In the end, Nvidia chose the GA106 over the laptop version of the GA107 which gives GeForce RTX 3050 an edge over AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT in what’s next. Nvidia makes more use of existing designs, saving a lot of redevelopment resources, which can further drive down costs.

VideoCardz has exposed a clear photo of the GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card PCB, which can confirm that the GeForce RTX 3050 desktop version uses the Ampere architecture GA106-150 GPU. It has 2560 CUDA cores, 8GB GDDR6 video memory, 128-bit video memory bit width, 14Gbps video memory rate, and 130W TDP. According to the configuration of GeForce RTX 3050 and RTX 3060, there is some space between the two, and there may be a GeForce RTX 3050 Ti in the future.

Nvidia says 75% of gamers are still using GeForce GTX graphics cards, and a significant portion of them will be the target group for the GeForce RTX 3050. With the GeForce RTX 3050, Nvidia is bringing the latest ray tracing technology to the “50” series desktop GPUs for the first time, replacing the current position of the GeForce GTX 1650 series.
