Due to supply component problems, iPhone 15 Pro may not use the solid-state button

Earlier rumors suggested that the iPhone 15 Pro and higher-end models would incorporate solid-state button designs, utilizing a built-in vibration motor to simulate the sensation of pressing via Touch ID. However, subsequent reports indicate that such a design may be delayed by a year before being implemented in iPhone models.

MacRumors has obtained information stating that Cirrus Logic, a supplier that has previously provided Apple with Taptic Engine control chips, mentioned last year that its high-performance mixed-signal components would be used in “a mass-produced smartphone.” However, the company recently indicated that the likelihood of this being integrated into new devices is low, suggesting that the iPhone 15 Pro and higher-end models may not feature solid-state button designs.

Apple is currently Cirrus Logic’s largest customer, accounting for approximately 79% of its revenue. Therefore, the company’s disclosure about a new device is clearly referring to Apple’s anticipated release of a new iPhone model.

The delay seems to correspond with analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s subsequent change in stance, attributing the adjustment in iPhone 15 Pro and higher-end model designs to technical issues.
