Chromium Microsoft Edge issues an warn if you run it with elevated privileges

Recently, users have discovered that the Chromium Microsoft Edge browser warns when administrative privileges are turned on. The warning is “Administrator Mode Detected. Close Microsoft Edge and relaunch in non-administrator mode for best performance.”

A prominent “Close Microsoft Edge” button is also attached below the prompt. Of course, the browser does not completely prevent users from using administrator rights. If you want to continue running in this mode, you can close the pop-up message. This warning is currently available in both the Canary and Developer versions of the new Edge browser.

Microsoft said that running Edge as an administrator can have a negative impact on browser performance. From a security standpoint, it’s usually a good idea to avoid running any process with higher privileges. Because higher permissions mean that any code executed from such a process also has administrative rights, and if malware also has higher privileges, it will have more serious consequences.
