Chrome 72 will no longer support Chromecast setup for PC and Mac

Chromecast has been around for five years and is a successful streaming hardware product that is affordable and easy to use. Recently, however, Google updated the Chromecast settings help page to indicate that it is no longer supported on the computer.

For configuration, switch to the mobile device client (Google Home app for Android or iOS). After plugging in the Plug and Play Chromecast hardware into the TV, it will display the chromecast.com/setup URL.

The chrome://cast can still be called manually in Chrome 71, but from the latest Chromium code submission, Google has made up its mind to deprecate this feature in Chrome 72. It is reported that the official version of Chrome 72 for Mac, Windows and Linux platforms will be available in January 2019.
