BOE may supply OLED LTPO panels to iPhone 15 Pro models

Apple has always done a good job in product planning, and related plans will be arranged very early in order to fully allocate resources in the supply chain to prepare. While this year’s iPhone 14 series may be released later than usual, Apple has put the supply of next year’s iPhone 15 series on the agenda.

According to The Elec, BOE may supply Apple with OLED LTPO panels for the high-end iPhone 15 Pro models. BOE has been trying to increase the supply of OLED panels to Apple for a long time, but until now, it has only supplied 6.1-inch OLED panels to the iPhone model, which is said to only account for about 10% of total shipments. In fact, BOE supplied between 15 million and 16 million OLED panels for iPhone models last year, much higher than expected. It is expected that BOE’s shipments will further increase this year, increasing to 40 million to 50 million, accounting for 20% of the total iPhone-related OLED panels.

At present, the OLED panels of the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are handled by Samsung and use more advanced technology. This year, Apple will continue to retain BOE as the panel supplier for the iPhone 14 models, but it has yet to set foot in the higher-end iPhone 14 Pro models, which will use OLED LTPO panels from Samsung and LG.
It was reported earlier that BOE is launching a new production plan that will convert three of its factories into production plants for Apple’s OLED panels. Apple’s purchase of BOE’s OLED panels is not only limited to the iPhone series models, but also other products. Apple, meanwhile, is testing OLED panels for future iPad lines, which may have something to do with it. Compared with the iPhone series, the iPad series has strict quality standards for display panels.
