About a week ago, it was reported that the ASRock X670E Steel Legend motherboard had a sticker on the DDR5 memory slot location. It shows that it takes 100 seconds to boot for the first time when 16GB x2 memory is installed, the time doubles to 200 seconds when 32GB x2 and 16GB x4 memory is installed, and 400 seconds when 32GB x4 memory is installed. Such a long time is likely to cause some users to think that there is a problem with the host.
Although starting the BIOS for the first time needs to check a lot of things, or conduct compatibility and stability tests, or even do a complete memory self-test, this time is too long, causing many players to worry about whether the same problem exists on the AM5 platform.
According to TechPowerup, ASRock has announced a new version of the BIOS to shorten the boot time of AM5 motherboards and provide better compatibility. The update can be downloaded from the official website after the release. Some netizens have previously said that the problem of the X670E Steel Legend motherboard’s DDR5 memory booting time is likely to be a problem with ASRock’s own BIOS.
In addition, all ASRock X670E/X670 motherboards support the BIOS flashback function, users only need to connect the 24Pin motherboard power cable and USB drive to update the motherboard to the latest version of BIOS.
X670E Steel Legend is designed for an 18-phase power supply, equipped with one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot and one PCIe 4.0 x4 slot, and four M.2 slots. There are also one USB Type-C Gen 3.2 2×2 (20 Gbps) port, four SATA ports, one HDMI port and one DP port, and two Ethernet ports (2.5 Gbps+1 Gbps). It uses the Realtek ALC1220 audio solution, supports Wi-Fi 6E, and provides a front USB-C port.
