Apple will launch new MacBook Pro 14 and 16 inch in 2021Q4

This year the semiconductor industry has been affected by a shortage in the supply chain and encountered many problems in production arrangements. Even Apple, which has always been in control of the supply chain, has experienced delays in the shipment of certain products. There are rumors in the industry that in order to ensure supply, Apple has to arrange production in advance or postpone the release of new products to reduce the impact of supply chain shortages.

Recently, Twitter user @dylandkt pointed out that 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with the new M1X chip and Mac mini will be launched at the end of October or early November this year. The 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will be equipped with mini-LED screens. Due to some conditions in the supply of specific components, in order to alleviate supply problems and ensure that new products are launched in the fourth quarter, Apple added a supplier to increase production capacity.

Even so, Apple will not start mass production until the end of 2021. Since the Mac mini with the new core cannot be released as a separate product, it will follow the release time of the MacBook Pro model. Rumors that the new iMac Pro will be delayed, which may disappoint some users.

The close cooperation between Apple and TSMC not only enables TSMC to receive strong support in-process research and development but also ensures the production capacity of Apple’s new process chips. According to DigiTimes, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) will start producing 3nm chips in the second half of 2022.
