Apple will launch Apple TV equipped with A14 and A12Z

In 2006, Apple launched the first generation of Apple TV set-top boxes (TV boxes), originally named iTV. This is a relatively niche household item of Apple and is not as well known as the iPhone and iPad.

In 2017, Apple launched the Apple TV 4K. As the name suggests, its biggest feature is the ability to play 4K videos, and its performance with the A10X chip is also very good.

Recent news indicates that Apple also plans to launch a more powerful Apple TV, and intends to enter the console game market dominated by Sony and Microsoft for many years.

The digital whistleblower Fudge claimed that Apple is developing a variety of Apple TV set-top boxes, one of which is equipped with an A12X or A12Z chip, and the other is equipped with an A14 series chip similar to A14X.

He said that Apple has invested a lot of resources in the Apple Arcade game subscription service, intending to bring console-level games to Apple Arcade, thereby further enhancing Apple Arcade’s market competitiveness.

Therefore, in the future, the minimum performance requirements for some games of Apple Arcade will be increased to the A13 chip, and because the latest Apple TV is only equipped with the A10X chip, it means that only the new Apple TV (at least equipped with the A12X chip) can play the host in Apple Arcade.

As Apple’s chip performance has become stronger in recent years, it’s not surprising that they decided to rely on Apple TV to enter the living room console game market, even if the Apple Arcade will not have such excellent visual effects on Xbox and PlayStation platforms in the short term.
