Apple Watch Series 8 may have a new design

Apple launched the Apple Watch Series 7 last year. Except for the on-cell OLED display with a higher screen ratio, the overall design has not changed much compared to the Apple Watch Series 6. Apple is likely to release the Apple Watch Series 8 this year, and recent rumors suggest that it features a new design that is different from previous products.
Twitter user @vnchocotaco revealed that the Apple Watch Series 8 will use a flat-screen instead of a curved screen and use a square and right-angle frame, and you can see the obvious changes in appearance through the rendering. In fact, it was rumored last year that Apple had plans in this regard for the Apple Watch Series 7, but in the end, it came to nothing. Apple is expected to launch three Apple Watches this fall, one of which is rumored to be a rugged “Explorer Edition”.

Previous reports have pointed out that Apple’s new generation of Apple Watch will introduce temperature sensors and other health features, and the temperature sensor will be one of the new key features of the Apple Watch Series 8. It is said that the new feature will appear on at least one of the new Apple Watches this year, and the Apple Watch may also have satellite connectivity in the future. In addition, Apple will add atrial fibrillation monitoring to watchOS 9, which is coming this year, and introduce a new low-power mode to extend battery life, while updating its built-in watch face.

From a commercial point of view, the current Apple Watch product line is still very successful. Last year, statistics pointed out that it accounted for more than half of global smartwatch shipments. In terms of users, the Apple Watch is Apple’s fourth-largest product, trailing only the iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
