Apple registered the AppleCoronavirus.com domain name

According to MacRumors, querying WHOIS record information shows that Apple recently registered the domain name AppleCoronavirus.com, which was created on April 11, 2020.

Apple already owned the domain name last Friday. Although the domain name does not currently point to an active website, the same day Apple and Google announced that they launch Privacy-safe contact tracing using Bluetooth Low Energy to combat coronavirus, and the two companies will collaborate to provide tools to help track the spread of the new coronavirus.

Apple said the two companies will launch developer tools in May to make the public health department’s apps interoperate between Android and iOS devices.

The recorded domain name information lists Apple Inc. as the registration authority. The registrar is CSC Corporate Domains, a company that protects domain names for large enterprises, and Apple uses the company’s domain name registration.
