Apple may abandon the iPad mini series

Apple introduced the iPad mini 6 last year with a number of design changes and internal upgrades like the A15 Bionic and a better camera system. Apple seems to be interested in smaller iPad products and is preparing to launch a new plan, possibly launching a new product to replace the iPad mini series.

According to The Elec, Apple is working on a foldable screen project to commercialize it as soon as possible, including 20-inch and 10-inch sizes. The former is about 15.3 inches when folded and is used in the Macbook product line. The first product is expected to be launched in 2027, while the latter is used in the iPad product line. The new foldable iPad is likely to replace the existing iPad mini series, and the time is estimated to be in 2025.

Apple is also busy with iPad products equipped with OLED screens, which may be launched in 2024, with two sizes of 11 inches and 12.9 inches. Samsung and LG are both developing corresponding OLED screens. It was previously reported that Apple’s iPad product line will gradually transition to OLED screens, which may use Hybrid OLED technology, meaning an OLED panel that mixes rigid OLED panel and flexible OLED panel technologies.

It is understood that Apple is already testing OLED panels for future iPad series products, hoping to use dual-stack OLED panels on the iPad series. This is different from the single-layer structure used by most smartphones at this stage, and at the same time the brightness is doubled, and the service life will be quadrupled.

In addition, there is news that Apple may abandon the foldable iPhone model, thinking that the advantages are not outstanding, and there is no need to use a foldable design.
