Apple launches ProRes RAW codec (beta) for Windows 10 PC
The Apple ProRes RAW codec has the same technology and principles as the existing Apple ProRes codec and is designed to allow users to create HDR high dynamic range content in Final Cut Pro X, Motion, and Compressor.
Recently, Apple released the beta version of Apple ProRes RAW codec for Windows 10. After installing this codec, you can play compatible ProRes RAW and ProRes RAW HQ video files on Windows 10 platform using compatible software.
The compatible software here mainly refers to Adobe After Effects Beta, Adobe Media Encoder Beta, Adobe Premiere Beta, and Adobe Premiere Rush Beta. It also only supports Windows 10 64-bit edition.
Apple says: ProRes RAW brings the same great performance, quality and ease of use to ProRes as raw video, and when you store clips in ProRes RAW format instead of proprietary camera raw format, you have more control over image processing. These include removing mosaics, linear logarithmic transformations, and custom LUTs.
