Apple iPhone 14 series may be equipped with A15X Bionic

It was previously reported that the iPhone 14 series launched by Apple in the second half of this year may continue to be equipped with the A15 Bionic, while only the iPhone 14 Pro series will be upgraded to the next-generation A16 Bionic.

Unlike the previous iPhone 13 series and iPhone 12 series, there will be no mini models, and Apple will replace them with the iPhone 14 Max with a 6.7-inch screen.
iOS 15.4
According to 9to5Mac, all four models of this year’s iPhone 14 series and iPhone 14 Pro series will be equipped with 6GB of memory. The difference is that the iPhone 14 series uses LPDDR4X memory, and the iPhone 14 Pro series uses LPDDR5 memory. In addition, Apple may name the A15 Bionic on the iPhone 14 series as A15X Bionic to distinguish it from the A15 Bionic used in the 2022 iPhone SE.

Apple has done something similar in the past. The 2020 iPad Pro is equipped with the A12Z Bionic, which is basically the same as the previous A12X Bionic. The only difference is that the number of GPU cores has been increased from 7 to 8. As for the difference between the A15X Bionic and the A15 Bionic other than the name, it is not clear for the time being, but even if there is a difference, the difference should not be big.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Apple has completed the design phase of the A16 Bionic, which will be manufactured using TSMC’s N4P process. Some analysts recently pointed out that the supply of A16 Bionic will be limited due to the production capacity of TSMC’s N4 process node. This has affected not only the new iPhone models but even Apple’s choice of chips for the iPad Air.
