Apple iPhone 14 Pro series will switch to hole display

At present, there is still more than half a year before Apple releases the iPhone 14 series. It seems that it is still very far away, but Apple is already doing related preparations. Although the changes made by Apple from the iPhone 12 series to the iPhone 13 series are not large, the iPhone 14 series next year may make more changes, such as the screen.

According to The Elec report, next year Apple will abandon the notch display currently in use on the higher-end models of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max and replace it with a hole display. This type of display is already common on Android smartphones and can provide a larger display area. This also means that the relevant components of Face ID will change positions to make room for the front camera.

Apple adopted ProMotion technology for the first time on iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, providing a refresh rate of 120Hz. Apple will continue to use low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) panels on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, the supplier of OLED screens is likely to be exclusively supplied by Samsung. The iPhone 14 will continue to use a 60Hz refresh rate screen. It is rumored that Apple will purchase more panels produced by BOE, which will be produced by BOE’s factory in Mianyang, Sichuan, but it is still being evaluated.

In addition, the mini models with the lowest shipments in the iPhone 12 series and iPhone 13 series may not appear in the new generation of the iPhone series in 2022. Compared with models with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens, mini models with only 5.4-inch screens do not seem to be favored by enough consumers.
