Apple has discontinued 21.5-inch iMac with Intel CPU
At the spring new product launch in April this year, Apple announced the launch of iMac with an M1 chip. The new design iMac uses a more compact, lighter, and thinner design, equipped with an M1 chip, a 24-inch 4.5K retina display, a built-in 1080p FaceTime HD camera, and a microphone, and a brand-new speaker system, and provides 7 colors, namely green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue and silver.
Before and after the release of the M1 iMac, Apple has stopped supplying some high-end 21.5-inch models equipped with Intel x86 processors and equipped with 512GB or 1TB hard drives, but only sells these refurbished models through the official online store. After about half a year, Apple silently discontinued the only 21.5-inch iMac low-end model, which is configured with Intel’s 7th generation Core i5 processor (dual core/2.3GHz), 8GB memory, 256GB SSD, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640, in fact, this combination belonging to 2017 is already outdated. Although Apple’s official online stores and retail stores no longer sell 21.5-inch iMacs, there are still third-party suppliers who will provide these 21.5-inch iMac low-end models until the inventory is completely exhausted.
Apple is still selling 27-inch models equipped with Intel x86 processors until the emergence of the 2022 iMac. Like the M1 iMac, the 2022 iMac should inherit the design style of the M1 iMac in appearance, but will transform the internal structure, adopt new heat dissipation solutions, and the self-developed chip will most likely be replaced with M1 Pro and M1 Max which provide more powerful performance. It is rumored that the 2022 iMac will be similar to the new MacBook Pro model released this year, equipped with a mini-LED display, and the refresh rate will dynamically change between 24 Hz and 120Hz.
