Apple faces lawsuits in many European countries over battery problems in old iPhones

Apple is facing lawsuits in many European countries and has been charged approximately 180 million euros (217 million U.S. dollars) for misleading indications of the battery level of the old iPhone.

Euroconsumers said in an emailed statement on Wednesday that five European consumer organizations have filed class actions in Belgium and Spain, and plans to file lawsuits in Italy and Portugal in the coming weeks. The organization stated that the lawsuit involves users of iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S, and 6S Plus.

These lawsuits are similar to those in the United States, accusing Apple of misleading consumers on iPhone battery power and reducing device performance through software upgrades. Last month, the company agreed to pay 113 million U.S. dollars to reach a settlement with multiple U.S. regulatory agencies, and the client is seeking U.S. court approval for a class action settlement, which may be worth as much as 500 million U.S. dollars.
