Apple bans user to use Apple ID to sign into Fortnite

The dispute between Apple and Epic Games is still ongoing. After EPIC received court support to avoid the Unreal Engine account being banned, Apple began more measures.

Apple recently announced the ban on the quick login permission of the Apple account of the Epic Games developer account, that is, it does not support logging in to Epic Games through Apple ID.

Of course, this countermeasure is basically useless. However, Apple has also taken stronger countermeasures: Apple announced a counterclaim that Epic Games maliciously violated the developer agreement and demanded that Epic Games pay huge punitive damages.

In fact, this dispute is mainly about Apple’s in-app purchase payment and high handling fees. Epic Games believes that the handling fees charged by Apple are too high and therefore there are anti-competitive behaviors.

Apple believes that its own in-app purchase policy, handling fee policy, and installation restriction policy are no problem, that is, users must download and install through the Apple Store and make in-app purchases.

After being sued by Epic Games in court, Apple announced a counterclaim against the company. Apple demanded that the well-known game developer pay a huge amount of punitive compensation.

Apple stated that Epic Games secretly used a strategy to activate a third-party payment channel, blatantly violating the Apple Developer Agreement and therefore must compensate.
